THERAPY FOR TEENS & YOUNG ADULTS IN PETERBOROUGH & VIRTUALLY ACROSS ONTARIO
You don't have to have it all figured out.
Between school, friendships, family, relationships, and trying to figure out who you are, there's a lot to navigate. Maybe you're feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or like everyone else has things figured out while you're just trying to keep up.
You might not know exactly what's wrong. You might know something needs to change but have no idea where to start.
Therapy gives you a space to talk things through, understand yourself better, and figure out what feels right for you.
There's a lot going on, even when you can't explain it.
Sometimes it's one big thing. Other times, it's a hundred little things that have been building up for a while.
You might recognize yourself in some of these:
School feels overwhelming, and it's getting harder to keep up.
Your anxiety makes everyday situations feel bigger than they seem to other people.
You overthink conversations, worry about what people think, or replay things long after they've happened.
You're struggling with friendships, dating, family relationships, or feeling like you fit in.
You feel pressure to make decisions about your future before you're ready.
You're having a hard time understanding your emotions or explaining what you need.
You don't feel like yourself lately, but you can't quite put your finger on why.
You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Sometimes, having a place to work through things before they get bigger can make a real difference.
You can be figuring yourself out and still need support.
You're learning what matters to you, how you want to show up in relationships, what you want your future to look like, and how to handle feelings that can sometimes seem bigger than you know what to do with.
It can be hard to work through all of that when you're also trying to meet expectations, keep up with school, or make the people around you happy.
Therapy isn't about someone telling you who to be or how to live your life. It's a chance to understand yourself, explore what's important to you, and build confidence in your own decisions.
We'll make room for the difficult stuff, but also for the things you're excited about, the parts of yourself you're discovering, and the life you're working toward.

What we can work on together
-
When your mind won't switch off, you're constantly second-guessing yourself, or worry is getting in the way of everyday life.
-
When academic pressure, perfectionism, procrastination, or fear of disappointing others feels like too much.
-
When feelings are difficult to understand, manage, or communicate, or you find yourself shutting down or reacting in ways you don't want to.
-
When you're navigating conflict, boundaries, changing friendships, dating, or figuring out how you want to be treated.
-
When you're trying to understand who you are, what you want, or how to feel more comfortable being yourself.
-
When you're facing changes, making decisions about the future, or adjusting to a new stage of life.
What is therapy like?
Therapy with me is a space where you can show up as you are. You don't have to make everything sound better than it is, know exactly what to say, or worry about having the perfect answer.
We'll work together to understand what's going on, explore the patterns that might be making things harder, and figure out what could help. Sometimes that means talking through a situation. Other times, it might mean practising a different way to handle anxiety, communicating your needs, or making decisions with more confidence.
My approach is collaborative, person-centred, and trauma-informed. Your experiences matter, and we'll work at a pace that feels right for you.
For parents and caregivers:
It can be difficult to watch your teen struggle, especially when they aren't sure how to explain what's going on or aren't ready to talk about it with you.
Therapy offers them a space to explore their experiences, build self-understanding, and develop ways to navigate challenges. My approach is collaborative and respectful of their growing independence.
We'll discuss consent, confidentiality, and the role of parents or caregivers at the beginning of the process. I aim to support your teen while being clear about how communication and parent involvement will work.
A few things you might be wondering
-
Nope! You can come in feeling confused, overwhelmed, or unsure why things feel difficult. We can start with whatever feels most relevant to you.
-
Absolutely not. Building comfort and trust takes time. You get to work at a pace that feels manageable, and you can ask questions or let me know when something feels difficult to talk about.
-
Therapy should provide appropriate privacy, including for teens. Before we begin, we'll talk about confidentiality, its limits, and how parent or caregiver involvement will work.
Safety concerns and legal or professional obligations can affect what information needs to be shared.
