THERAPY FOR DEPRESSION IN PETERBOROUGH & VIRTUALLY ACROSS ONTARIO
You don't feel like yourself. And you're tired of trying to explain why.
Maybe you're getting through the day, doing what needs to be done, and showing up for the people in your life. But underneath it all, things feel heavier than they used to.
Maybe you're exhausted, disconnected, unmotivated, or just not finding much joy in the things you used to love. And when people ask what's wrong, you don't always know what to say.
You don't have to be at rock bottom to deserve support. Therapy can help you understand what you're going through and start finding your way back to yourself.
When everything feels like more effort than it should.
Depression doesn't always look like crying in bed or being unable to get out of the house. And being told to get outside, think positively, or keep yourself busy doesn't always help when you're already trying your best.
Maybe you’ve been experiencing:
Feeling tired, even when you've had enough sleep
Losing interest in things you used to enjoy
Struggling to get motivated or follow through on things
Feeling numb, irritable, or more emotional than usual
Pulling away from people, even when you don't want to
Being hard on yourself or feeling like you're falling behind
Going through the motions without really feeling present
Wondering why everything feels so difficult lately
You don't have to keep pushing through on your own.
When you're feeling low, it can be hard to know what you need, let alone how to ask for it. You might put pressure on yourself to get back to normal, feel guilty for struggling, or convince yourself that other people have it worse.
Therapy offers a space to slow down and make sense of what's happening, without having to pretend you're doing better than you are.
Together, we can explore what's contributing to how you're feeling, recognize patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and work toward changes that feel manageable in your everyday life.

What we can work on together
-
Reconnecting with your interests, values, and the parts of life that used to feel meaningful.

Exploring realistic ways to take care of yourself and manage daily responsibilities without expecting yourself to do it all.

Making sense of what you're feeling, especially when everything feels numb, overwhelming, or difficult to explain.
-
Understanding how depression affects your connections with others and finding ways to communicate what you need.
What is therapy for depression like?
There's no one-size-fits-all approach to depression, and you don't need to show up with the right words to explain how you're feeling.
Some sessions might involve unpacking what's been weighing on you. Others might focus on the expectations you put on yourself, the patterns you've noticed, or practical ways to make day-to-day life feel a little more manageable.
We'll pay attention to what feels helpful and adjust as we go. No pressure to have everything figured out, and no expectation that you'll suddenly feel better just because you're talking about it.
A few questions you might have
-
Depression can look different for everyone. It may involve persistent low mood, reduced interest or enjoyment, changes in sleep or appetite, low energy, difficulty concentrating, irritability, or feelings of guilt and worthlessness.
You don't need to relate to every symptom to seek support. We can work together to understand what you're experiencing and whether depression may be contributing.
-
Absolutely. You don't need to identify one specific cause or have everything neatly explained before starting therapy. We can explore what you've been noticing, what life has been like lately, and what might be contributing to how you feel.
-
You don't have to reach a breaking point for your experience to matter. You can be going to work, taking care of responsibilities, and keeping up appearances while still struggling internally. Therapy can offer support before things feel unmanageable.
