THERAPY FOR MEN IN PETERBOROUGH & VIRTUALLY ACROSS ONTARIO

You're doing everything you can. So why does it never feel like enough?

You're working hard, showing up, taking care of your responsibilities, and trying to do right by the people around you. But somehow, it still feels like you're falling short.

Maybe your efforts go unnoticed. Maybe no matter how much you do, there's always something else you should be doing. Or maybe you've reached a point where you feel like you can't win, and you're tired of carrying that feeling around.

I have experience working with men, particularly men in the trades, who know what it means to work hard but don't always feel valued for it. Therapy offers a space to work through what's weighing on you, without having to pretend you've got it all handled.

You're putting in the work. But does anyone actually see it?

Whether it's on the job, at home, or in your relationships, you might feel like you're constantly trying to keep up with expectations. You're doing your part, taking responsibility, and trying to make things work. But the recognition, appreciation, or sense of accomplishment you're hoping for never quite comes.

You might recognize yourself in some of these:

  • You work hard, but it feels like people only notice what you haven't done.

  • No matter how much you contribute, there's always another expectation to meet.

  • You feel like you can't win. Speak up, and it's a problem. Stay quiet, and nothing changes.

  • You're expected to be dependable, provide, fix things, and keep going, even when you're running on empty.

  • You're frustrated with the people around you, but underneath that frustration, you feel unappreciated, dismissed, or taken for granted.

  • You keep things to yourself because talking about how you're feeling doesn't come naturally, or you don't think anyone will understand.

  • You're starting to question your worth, even though you know how much effort you're putting in.

You feel resentful, disconnected, or like nothing you do will ever be enough.

You don’t have to prove your worth by how much you carry.

A lot of men are used to showing up, getting the job done, and dealing with problems without making a fuss. There's pride in being capable and someone others can count on. But it can become exhausting when you feel like you always have to be the strong one, the reliable one, or the one who figures everything out.

In therapy, we'll make space to look at what's happening beneath the frustration. That might mean working through feeling unappreciated, figuring out how to communicate what you need, or untangling the pressure you put on yourself to keep performing and providing.

You don't have to stop caring about your work, your family, or being someone people can rely on. You can learn to show up for those things without losing yourself in the process.

Your worth isn't determined by how much you get done, how much you earn, or how well you manage to hold everything together.

What we can work on together

What is therapy for men like?

You don't need to know how to talk about your feelings, and you won't be expected to arrive with a perfectly organized explanation of what's wrong.

We'll start with what's going on in your life right now. Together, we'll make sense of what you're experiencing, identify what you'd like to change, and explore practical ways to move toward that.

My approach is relational, person-centred, and trauma-informed. That means we'll work at a pace that feels manageable, with room for honest conversations, questions, and figuring things out as we go.

You don't have to fit a particular idea of what a man should be, or how he should handle things, to benefit from therapy.

A few questions you might have

You put a lot into the people and things that matter to you. You matter, too.

You don't have to wait until you're completely burnt out or at your breaking point to talk things through. Whether you're dealing with work stress, feeling unappreciated, or just tired of feeling like you can never get it right, there's room to work through it here.
